Research Papers

This is not a full CV. These are recent papers either written by me (for the collaboration) or in which I was directly, heavily involved.

The 2HWC HAWC Observatory Gamma Ray Catalog - 2017
This is the first big HAWC catalog paper identifying high-energy gamma-ray sources in the Northern hemisphere. I did not write it personally, but contributed much of the analysis making the paper possible. Somewhat before the paper, the HAWC observations were in popular press, e.g. this article in space.com.

Observation of the Crab Nebula with the HAWC Gamma-Ray Observatory - 2017
HAWC collaboration paper on the first 1.5 year observation of the Crab Nebula. Most of the analysis and text is mine.

Highlights from the High Altitude Water Cherenkov Observatory - 2015
I gave the highlight talk for the HAWC collaboration at the 2015 International Cosmic Ray Conference. This is the associated paper. It summarizes results from the project that were presented at the conference.

Limit on an Isotropic Diffuse Gamma-Ray Population with HAWC - 2015
Paper prepared for the 2015 International Cosmic Ray Conference on isotropic gamma-ray emission with HAWC.

Sensitivity of the HAWC Detector to Sources of Multi-TeV Gamma Rays - 2013
I made a study of the sensitivity of HAWC before we actually built the instrument.

Observation and Spectral Measurements of the Crab Nebula with Milagro - 2012
Milagro was the prior generation experiment to HAWC. I studied the final dataset from Milagro and extracted a photon energy spectrum from the Crab.

Milagro Observations of Multi-TeV Emission from Galactic Sources in the Fermi Bright Source List - 2009
This was an analysis I did looking at coincidences between the brightest sources in early data from the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope and source candidates in Milagro data

Discovery of Localized Regions of Excess 10-TeV Cosmic Rays - 2008
We discovered 10-degree-scale anisotropy in cosmic radiation in Milagro data. I worked on the analysis a bit. It was picked up in the popular press. For example, this article at Science Daily.

Detection of Atmospheric Muon Neutrinos with the IceCube 9-String Detector - 2007
This was my Ph.D. thesis analysis, the first detection of neutrinos with early data from IceCube. This is the 4-page paper published in Physical Review D.

Detection of Atmospheric Muon Neutrinos with the IceCube 9-String Detector - 2006
This is my full Ph.D. thesis in all its glory.
